well, its been a long but fast week. We travelled back from Calgary on Monday and had a great time here with everyone. The week passed quickly with short phone calls, a thousand text messages and 2 facetime calls. Reuben managed to bike just shy of 900km this week with intense heat as well as the dreaded head wind. At one point today he was riding in a group of 16 riders, what a site that would have been to see. Today at camp they were greeting with the new that one of the riders training to join them in Ontario passed away while on a training ride today. This new hit me hard, harder than i thought and i think harder than Reuben. Maybe its because the reality of what he is going struck home today and the dangers of what he is doing became so much more real. At the same time, i need to remember that i am not in control and my worrying will get me no where, so i will put it into God's hands and keep praying for his safety as well as the safety of the other riders. We will mourn with the family affected by this passing as well as his fellow rider who is seriously injured. Tomorrow is a rest day for Reuben in Regina. Please pray for rest and relaxation for him as he spends time with my brother and his family.
The nice thing about this week is that many hands make light work and it takes a village to raise a family. That has been so so true this week. It has been nice to have hands to hold riley when he is fussy, play with him and giggle with him. Its been great having 3 extra girls around for mine to play with. I feel sometimes like i hardly saw them during the day. We enjoyed many tube rides and skis as we start to hang out more behind the boat again as we did when we were growing up. I also have tried to ski most morning, first I wakeboarded which hurt my back and hips. so i switched to skiing the last two days and though my back has been sore its been getting better, just a matter of gaining some muscles. Its been great having an extra set of hands around so that i can even dream of getting behind the boat every morning. Its been a blessing.
So, one week done, 6 to go! Thanks for all your prayers :)
