Friday we headed home, I had Emily in the car with me which was such a help handing out snacks and wipes and toys, turning on movies and music and keeping the kids happy. Riley has tunred into a good little traveler, sleeping and cooing and being a happy and content little one with his sisters to entertain him.
Saturday morning i had lined up playdates for both girls so i could run to costco alone, return reubens tent alone and just do my errands alone.... well.... with Riley but one kid is waaaaaay easier than 3 for those times. Plus it was nice for the girls to see friends. I picked them up at 2, Reuben up at 2:30 and we left for Alix shortly after 3. We headed north to celebrate my aunt and uncles 25th Wedding anniversary. It was such a blessing to be surrounded by so much family and friends, roasting and toasting them. That night we headed back to Calgary to get ready for an early morning. Here are some photos from the party. (taken by others, because i was busy with my children... we didn't even take a family photo or anything :( )
Sunday was a new kind of busy. We were at church at 8am to serve breakfast to the Sea to Sea riders, then church and then lunch with the congregation. It was amazing, amazing to be around Reuben and amazing to interact with the riders and amazing to watch our congregation support them. Then we hung out at moms for the afternoon, playing in the sprinkler and enjoying the company of Tim and Dee and Peter and Maria. I helped them set up a new blog for their cross country journey and then they headed back to camp, we tucked the girls into bed and Reuben got organized for the next part of the journey.
Monday turned our differently than i expected. A super short appointment for Riley to make sure all was well. A quick appointment with Ortho for Tianna's braces, she got a new wire but all is well there. Then we handed out yearbooks for Kaydence's school, had Chandra and the kids over and then headed out a day early. It was a good drive, we had Grandpa Rich from Calgary to Golden join us and then Grandma Mary to the cabin. It was nice to have someone to talk to and help with the littles. We had a great supper in Golden and now we sit at the cabin.
In terms of goodbyes it was good. We said out goodbye at night, before bed. Reuben was up at 5 when Riley wanted to feed and he was off. He had breakfast, packed up and was out before we were awake for the day. The girls handled it really well, just like dad was going to work. Me... well, i am surviving. I was a bit emotional and short tempered for the morning but we made it. Now the countdown begins to Halifax. We will take each day one at a time and enjoy it, make the most of it. We will read about where Reuben is and follow the devotionals.
We are at the cabin now, ready to enjoy our summer. Our goodbyes are done and now we just have to go thru the daily motions. Enjoy this week with Rich and Mary, Ron and Monica and Jenn and Jason as well as a few others. Then we will have another friend and her son come and then a whole lot of family and very quickly it will be august and time to head home again.
So thanks for all your prayers for safety and peace. Thanks for your continued prayers for safety for Reuben and the other riders. Thanks for your prayers for health for Riley and the rest of us.
