On my own...

The past week has been wonderful, surrounded by my parents, being there for emotional help, a brief break and of course, someone to talk to.  Lunch is done, the highway is clear and off they go, back to Calgary to work the weekend.  Its funny how i already miss my dad puttering around or seeing my mom play with the kids.  How i miss having an extra hand to hold Riley when he is screaming and wants food that i am trying to get ready super fast.

Now the girls are in the hot tub in the rain, Riley is napping in the trailer and i am struck by how calm and peaceful the lake is in the rain as i sit on the deck on my own.  Hearing each raindrop fall leaving its tiny ripple on the lake.  Reminding me that one cyclist on the road hardly gets noticed just like one little raindrop but when 100 riders gather together in one spot like 100s of raindrop fall on a lake there is a bigger and greater effect on the surrounding area.  People passing Reuben on the highway would not take a second glance at him but when you ride as a team, coming into a campsite or church people take notice.  People wonder and people start asking questions.  My little puddle of love pouring into my children may remain a small raindrop but joined together with all the puddles of love from people they meet create a lasting effect on them.  Today i am thankful for the puddles of love my family has left on me, filling me up, encouraging me when i am down and being there for a hug whenever i need it.

The highway however, is not peaceful today.  Its getting busier, reminding me that summer is just beginning for most people today.  Everyone is on the move, either from school and work back home again or out to their favorite vacation spot.  Grade 12s are rejoicing that high school is done and everyone else is soooo excited for the break.  Those cars, we see, those kids, we will meet.  But busier highways means busier roads for Reuben which makes me nervous but at the same time thankful that his ripple will hit a few more people.

The rain is over, the sun came out a shone its beautiful glory and warmed us back up again.  We enjoyed an early supper together, girls did the dishes and with Riley going to bed early i got to enjoy some wonderful time with just us girls, playing some badminton and learned a new game of yatzee.  They enjoyed it till i got a yatzee and then it as not fun anymore...  Tianna had to scratch 3 so her points were awful.  I felt so bad.  Kaydence and I got the bonus points on the top so it was just bad.  Not the way i wanted to end the evening but we survived.  Now they have crashed and I am alone, enjoying the quiet and stillness of the evening.
 Loving the Lego today

Riley loves watching his sisters play with the GIANT balls, they pass them up and down the hill and he bounces up and down when they ball comes close to him.

Enjoying a cheese bun like a good Nauta boy...

Hot Tub Fire 1, mommy 0 :(  However, after 2 hours of fighting the fire i finally got it to keep going for more than 10 minutes.
