6:30am came way to fast. I wanted a shower in the morning and still had a little bit more to pack. The last laundry was hung over night to dry so it needed to be packed this morning. The rest of the stuff was all in the car and we were ready to go. This time i knew i had diapers for both kids and everything we needed.
8am crept up on us and soon we were saying our almost last goodbyes. It was hard. We have no idea when or if we will ever be back or when we will see them again so goodbyes are always hard. I managed not to cry inside but i had tears in the car. (not surprising for those who know me). We were a little upset when we had check in the night before. KLM had moved us to different seats and we were separated and a little annoyed. We wanted to be there early so we could talk to them. So i was stressed about our seats as well.
We got to Dronten, picked up Tante Tinijke and went on our way. She drove to Schipol which was good, that way Reuben and I could relax for the most part. She dropped us off at the door and said goodbye. Parking is expensive so we were on our own at the airport. It was easy to find where we needed to go and off we went.
Once we got to the desk we asked about our seats and took up some precious time making a phone call about our seats and the reasoning behind it. As we figured it was so we had a bassinet for Kaydence to sleep in. Reuben was the seat behind us so that was good too. We got through, left our luggage and continued on our way. We found customs and went smoothly through. We got to the other side and security was no where to be found. We had counted on needed 45-1hr at security again so we were a little concerned. We went all the way to our gate and there was security. Right before going on the plane was where we had to pass through security so we were good to go. There was a ton of people waiting there.
Instead of waiting around we found some food and changed diapers and got ready for the flight. We bought a few more things and packed them onto our bag. Security opened 15 minutes before boarding and this time we were ready. We got into the pre-boarding line and got through smoothly. It was great. We sat for 5 minutes on the other side of security and then boarded the plane. We had a ton of time to get ready, find out seats and settle in.
Our flight attendant was wonderful, he told us about their diaper stash, water stash, food stash and to come and find him for anything. I was shocked. Because I had forgotten diapers on the way there and no one had told us about their on board supply I was kinda mad. Anyways. We settled in and both girls feel asleep moments before we took off. They both slept for the first 2 hours of the flight which was great. We moved Kaydence into the bassinet and it was wonderful. We had free hands and she slept soundly. Once awake the girls went about eating, drinking, watching movies and playing games. Making friends with everyone around. Reuben and I were able to take turns in the seat behind to have a nap and a break from the kids which was awesome. An unexpected surprise.
About 6 hours in Kaydence was done, ready to sleep but not wanting to fall asleep in our arms or in the bassinet. I ended up swaddling her in the airplane blanket and she was asleep in moments. Her blanket over her head, it was dark and nothing to see so she was out. She slept the last 2 hours of the flight which was grand.
Finally home was spotted. The flight home was longer but it was smooth. Tianna and Kaydence were amazing and everyone was shocked that they had done so well. Back on Canadian soil we went through the really really really long customs line, found our bags quickly and found Marcel meeting us outside. Tianna had a nap on the drive home as did Kaydence. We went straight to Mom and Dad to try and stay awake as well as have some supper. Reuben and I snuck out to clean up our bags and check the house out. Everything was fine so we went back to Mom and Dads.
Tianna and Kaydence did awesome. They both ate dinner, played and at 6pm crashed. Tianna was asleep on mom (beppe) before we were in the car and on our way home. She was out for the count. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation and well worth the money. We were glad to be home and eager to get back to life.
Thanks for following our vacation!
