Day 14, Madoradam and back to Zwolle

Today was a day to ourselves..... we were leaving Oostvoorne and heading to Madoradam and back to Zwolle.  Hoping Tianna would not be sick again in the car..... we set out towards Den Haag for a day to ourselves.  No family till after dinner we were on our own time frame and not having to worry about translating dutch and english.

Den Haag is a huge city, with skyscrapers and everything.  It makes you feel like you are in a big city with people living on top of people and business everywhere.  So many people in a small area.  The sky scrapers are even built on top of the roads. (reuben called me a tourist for this photo :) )

Madouradam was exactly as we both remembered it, except smaller.  But i guess when you are smaller as a person it seems bigger when you are there.  The man with his finger in the hole in the dike was still there and so were the giant Klompen. (both got photographed!)  We got in with our English guide and stroller only to realize that Tianna was not interested in walking.  So we grabbed a second stroller for her so i would not have to carry her the whole time.

After a while we got Tianna excited about the mini Holland.  We stopped at the Klopen factory and got a pair to go on the diaper bag and then headed to the Mars Bar factory to get a mini mars bar.  Tianna patiently waited for Tianna's turn, when she put in her money the truck broke down.  We could have waited for it to be fixed but we had to head out.  So we had a very unhappy Tianna on our hands.

The drive home was busy.  We had avoided rushhour for the most part of the trip but there way no way around it here.  We left Madoradam at 3:15 and traffic was crazy, at some places we were stopped for 20 minutes or longer.  We arrived in Zwolle just before 6pm. a 150km drive that took almost 3 hours.  It was crazy!  We had never seen traffic like that.  We were very glad we had left when we did.

When we got to Zwolle we arrived at Hennie and Jocob's house with their 2 kids Ruth Martine and Timon.  It was Timon's birthday.  Pake and Beppe were there, they had come by train for the afternoon and were taking their car home.  It was wonderful to see them.  Supper was good, the girls were excited to be out of the car and into another house.

Pake and Beppe headed out and i had a hard time with that.  We knew we would not see them before we left Holland and that goodbye is always the hardest.  Reality is, we might not see them again and i grew up always know that this goodbye could be goodbye till heaven.  Its so hard.  I am bad at goodbyes to begin but this one is just so hard, Sunglasses are my best friends with good byes. Tante Hennie caught on a few minutes later how hard this was for me and so we chit chatted about it for a while.  However, i had some laundry to go and girls to put to bed so there was no time for more tears.  The girls crashed into bed and we went back down for games and visiting downstairs.  T

The highlight of the evening was watching Timon play with the box from the bike he had got for his birthday.  I think the box brought as a much entertainment as the bike. Just kidding.
