Day 13, Dirksland

Today was a bight and sunny day..... almost.  It started out that way, up and ready to go meet Reuben's family in Holland.  I was a little nervous but also excited.  We packed for the day and headed out.  For far down the road Tianna was not feeling well, she was winy and crying and than...... puked.  Great, all over the car, carseat and herself.  In the middle of nowhere Reuben pulled over and we got cleaning.  Put Tianna into a new outfit, wiped the car down as much as possible and than continued on our way.  We put a blanket into her carseat so we could cover the puke, opened the car windows and hoped we were close to our destination.

We found ourselves praying that the day would go better, Tianna is a very big suck when she is not feeling well.  We arrived at Dirk and Ria's house in Dirksland and was welcome with open arms as we came in with a sick child, puke coated clothes and all.  We put Tianna on the couch and started laundry.  What a wonderful way to start a visit.

I was a bit embarrassed to be walking into someones house with a sick child and her load of laundry.  Airing out her carseat on their front lawn and airing out the car in the wind.  However, once i was in the door, cup of tea in hand i was comfortable and forgetting about the morning.  After about an hour Tianna settled in and was ready to play.  Outside we went to find the park behind the house.  It was the park that Reuben had played at in 1996 when he was last in Holland.  Memories for him flooded back and it was fun to hear all about the things that he did with his family.

After the park we had some lunch and then Reuben's Uncle Pete and Aunt Ria came for a visit.  Naps for the girls and then a walk to see the house where Reuben's dad grew up.  It happened to be for sale so we took a family photo with it just for fun!  We grabbed a few groceries for the next day.

On our way back we stopped at Martijn's house and met his new wife.  Tianna seemed to be feeling better so that was good.  After our walk we had some supper, more visiting and than it was time to head back to the Bed and Breakfast.  We did manage to snap a family photo to remember the visit before we left.

It was a wonderful day, nothing like we imagined that it was going to start but Tianna seemed better and we were glad to have visited with Reuben's family.
