Today was going to be a busy day, Everyone was coming to celebrate Moms day and Beppe's birthday. This morning we got up and decided to go to church. It was very different. We felt really out of place. We were the youngest by a long shot, Reuben was the only one wearing shorts and i was the only one with bare shoulders. Oh well, it was interesting to see a service in dutch.
After church was nap time for the girls and get ready for the party with everyone to celebrate mothers Day and Beppe's birthday. It was great to see everyone. Almost everyone was there. Only a few were missing so it was a nice visit. It was the first time Tianna and Suzannah really got to play together and both were excited to have an English speaking playmate amidst all the dutchies. People started coming around 2pm and we had food food and more food. We also had a box of bakery stuff that did not get eaten and so got sent home with everyone. They were all excited.
It was a beautiful day so we all got sit outside and enjoy some fresh air. There was a lot of talk about Suzannah and everyone asking about Reny and her. All were very excited that they had made it despite all the confusion and paperwork in the last few days. It was great for the family to all meet her and welcome her to the Nauta family. We ate and ate and ate all afternoon and late into the evening. The most popular question i go asked was about Jett. How was he doing, most were surprised that he was still in the hospital so that took a lot of explaining.
At 7pm we packed up the car, changed the girls into their pjs and headed to Zuidlaren. It was a fairly uneventful drive except around Heereveen where there was a truck that had slid off the roads. It was only about a 20 minute delay but still, it woke the girls up so i had to get juice and blankets from the back to put them back to sleep when we started driving again. We were fairly impressed with the signage that was put up before the accident site. There were signs telling us which lane to get into and about 1km before the accident site the lane was blocked off. All the emergency crews had tons of room to work and not worry about someone running out of space and running into the workers.
Once we were on our way it was a smooth ride the rest of the way. We popped the girls into beds and went downstairs to visit. We knew at this point began out jumping from house to house and we were already sick of packing up our stuff, bringing it up and down those skinny steep dutch stairs day after day. However, I think that Seibe and Rinkje's house had the best stairs, a little more spread out and not as steep which was nice. We enjoyed more tea and cookies, played a game and headed to bed. It was a great night.
