Easter weekend can be sumed up in one word.... CHAOS, absolute Chaos. Reuben worked the whole weekend, we had a 60th wedding anniversary party, our whole family from both sides in town for the weekend and my parents left for Holland.
Lets start with the Anniversary. The anniversary was great. Almost all of Reuben's family was in town and it was a great evening. I got to make my first wedding cake ever with the help of a dear friend and cake decorator. The girls had a blast seeing everyone, eating good food and having a good time. We saw lots of photos, sang songs and had pretty much a wedding reception all before 10pm.
My side of the family was low key, we worked, we got together and enjoyed playing and goofing off. The kids love having so many uncles to play with and even though my parents were in Holland we had a great time together.
Holland.... wow, what a start to my parents trip. The adventure was to surprise everyone in Holland at my grandparents birthday celebration at my aunt and uncle's bed and breakfast. The party was Sunday night and it was the perfect time for them to leave Saturday afternoon, land Sunday morning and surprise everyone. The plan was set, flights book, train schedule memorized and they were ready to go. However, my mom took Jeremy's passport to the airport and they did not catch it till they were boarding the flight. This meant my dad went on and my mom went back home to catch the flight the next day. Dad landed in Holland, took the train with 3 suitcases and a bag with 2 transfers and managed to still surprise my grandparents. Then they went to the B&B and surprised everyone. The next question everyone asked was where my mom was.... My mom then spent the evening with her kids and grandkids and went to church and flew out the next afternoon. My dad met her at the airport on the other side and they surprised all my cousins on Monday afternoon. I think even after a staggered start they still enjoyed their trip.
Now we are into April, the snow is still falling as i write this blog but there is a hope of spring. Rain this weekend instead of snow so maybe there is hope. The robyns are frozen and my tulips do not know what has hit them but soon the snow will be gone, the sun will be shining and the world will start blossoming again. I look forward to warm runs and sweaty days but for now i will go enjoy the dining room fort, and the snow outside.
