May has been a wonderful month. The sun has begun to shine hot and steady. My kids are happy and eager to be outside. We connected the bike "train" and have been putting on the miles.... at least the first 10 days of May..... then life stopped. Let me explain,
May 10. A day to celebrate my dad's birthday. It was perfect, we had a beautiful day, a BBQ planned at South Glenmore Park and a trip to the swimming pool planned for after. We had a great meal on dad's new BBQ. The kids had a great time playing at the park and managed to eat a little bit of food. After the park we went to Southland Leisure Center for a swim. The pool has waves, the slides are great and the kids LOVE it. We were having a great time until i followed Tianna down a small green water slide, slipped and ended up going down really fast on my back and hitting the end of the catch tube at the end of the slide. here is a photo of the area. I was going down the green one at the back. You cannot even see the start of it because its so small.
This would not be a big deal except that at the end of the slide there is a gap going all the way across the slide that catches the excess water and brings it back into the system. My foot went into that gap and twisted.... ouch.
However, being the mom i am and having the daughters i have. Tianna was already back up the stairs and heading for the blue slide. Since she could not hear me with the large bucket of water falling and the waves going i followed her up to try and get her to weight for me. Then i found myself at the top of the blue slide and Tianna at the bottom. Where i finally was able to tell her to wait for me. Then i had 2 options... stairs or slide. The slide seemed to be the better option so down i went, keeping my foot in the air. Then came the next decision. Telling Tianna to go and get mom, who was in the hot tub with Dad and Kaydence or walking there myself. Tianna refused to go alone so i had to walk over...... all the way to the hot tub...
So you can see the blue slide on the left of the photo and the blue slide on the right of the photo. The hot tub is behind the slide on the right.... it was a long walk. Mom right away came out and Tianna went in to the hot tub and I collapsed on the half wall surrounding the blue slide. Needless to say the lifeguard came over and i walked to the change room and into their office for ice. Not really thinking it was that bad, just twisted my foot. After waiting there for about 20 minutes the kids were falling asleep so we started to leave. After taking way to long to get everyone dressed my foot was VERY swollen so we decided to drop me off at the ER on our way home, Reuben would put the kids to bed, leave them with Robyn and come back.
So off to the ER we go where i went straight to Traige, straight to Admitting, read 2 pages in my book and went to the back. Where i read about 5 pages in my book, went for an xray, read another 2 pages and had the xray and back to the unit area where Reuben met me. Then I read a page or 2, talked to Reuben for a few moments and went into a bed. The nurse bone person looked at my xray with Reuben to see that i had fractured my foot where the tendon connects to the bone. Instead of the tendon breaking the bone did...... GREAT! So an aircast was purchased and 2 hours after we arrived we were heading home. Not bad for a Friday night i should say. Not really my ideal date night but you know. Of course, Reuben could not resist showing me off to his colleges who were working the evening so we made a few stops and went to staff parking.

The world around me has so many bigger problem and people are facing hardships i cannot imagine that i should be thankful its just 4-6 weeks in a cast and make the most of it. Yesterday was a rough day. I had to edit about half of the things i had written down. Today the pain is less, i had a better sleep and a great friend came over. Tomorrow i will get out of the house for Coffee Break and then another good friend comes in the afternoon. Friday will be a day of packing and Saturday we are off to the cabin. I am thankful that Tianna is learning to do things on her own, she can now open the back door without having to ring the doorbell every 10 minutes to tell me something. Tianna is able to get her and Kaydence snacks from downstairs and is a big helper when Kaydence wants to go outside. It will be a slower 6 weeks then i wanted it to be but soon i will be able to run, jump and dance just like before. If i can be pregnant and sick for 9 months 2 times knowing there is an end in site, I can handle being on a slow pace for 6 weeks knowing there is an end in site. I can and will ask for help and I will remind myself that things could be worse.
